Following on from our 'Open Rehearsal' event last June which was such a success, we are doing another - but with a bonus event in the first half of the evening. We absolutely loved the experience of sharing our musical journey with our community and hope you will join us this time too. It’s free, but donations will be welcome if you would like to contribute in this way.

In the first half of the evening (7.30 - 8.30), Nigel Groom will give a talk entitled:  STRAVINSKY'S THE RITE OF SPRING - A Talk from a Jungian Perspective.

The TSO will play live excerpts from the Rite to illuminate and demonstrate the different sections and themes as outlined in the talk. Expect to discover the archetypes that lie at the heart of the music and the story. Guaranteed to be fascinating!

Following the talk, there will be 15 minutes for refreshments,

Then, at 8.30pm, after you have had a break and a drink, you are invited to watch and experience a live TSO rehearsal of sections of the piece in preparation for our November concerts (see below). Richard Gonski, the TSO’s conductor, will explain what we are rehearsing and why!

Nigel Groom is a Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist. Formerly a printer, Augustinian friar and teacher of Theology and Music, he is also an artist and a spiritual director, and plays violin with the Torbay Symphony Orchestra.

Donations will be gratefully received on the night.
